Ukraine confirmed it had repatriated three of the Ukrainian prisoners of war Russia repatriated to Hungary. Hungary and Russia’s plan was for the Ukrainian servicemen, from an area of Hungarian-language speakers in western Ukraine, to claim asylum in Hungary.
Hungarians are a non-Indo-European community occupying Indo-European lands since ~1200 CE.
Hungary justifies its interference (and terrorist acts) in Ukraine on linguistic grounds - Orbàn claims jurisdiction over Hungarian language speaking Ukrainians.

By the end of the 19th century identity between "ethnicity" / biology and language-spoken was known to be bogus - Didn't stop Hitler or oodles of tinpot war mongers justifying genocide by appealing to race or ethnicity based on linguistic grounds.
Claiming jurisdiction over people living in another country because of forced passportization or language spoken is what has caused most modern wars.

Presumably, Russia would then double-cross Orban and move onto Austria and Serbia (both potential/actual client states of Russia - don't be fooled by Austria's "neutrality").
Orban's muddling linguistics with race is particularly cynical political and rhetorical opportunism.
Muscovy's bogus "ethnic Russians" category is just as baseless a category as Orban's phoney Nazism.
The Zelenskyy's and the thousands of native Russian language speaking Ukrainians I met as a diplomat in eastern Ukraine are evidence that language spoken do not determine our opinion on whom we wish to be ruled by.
Ukraine has three indigenous communities and a heap of other communities defined by a variety of different criteria, including the linguistic. Yet, Ukrainian nationalism has always worked towards an inclusive community defined by its tolerance of difference.
This is partly why Ukraine's decentralization of governance to the village level since 2014 are so successful - I've visited hundreds of these "hromadas" in eastern Ukraine. They keep 50% of their taxes and have autonomy over cultural affairs. Russia bombs their renovated Houses of Culture to destroy the symbols of how Ukraine differs from White Supremacist Nazi Russia.
There are very few native English language speaking Americans or Irish who want to be ruled by London.

Many have been trolled into so-called Anti-Woke (i.e. destroying post-WWII legal framework protecting equal rights without discrimination) campaigns.
It starts with attacks on Trans or women or messianic campaigns to return Euro-Atlantic civilisation to 1930s legal and social realities, and it ends in war.
In one sense the use of the term “Cultural War” to describe a conservative political strategy invented by Pat Buchanan in 1991 is a metaphor. It seeks to disguise the real war - against the legal framework established after WWII that guarantees human rights protected by law - by rhetorically branding rights protected by law as merely “cultural” rather than universal.
In another sense though the Cultural War IS a war, and it leads to war.
As we have seen Russia justifies its annihilation of 100,000 native Russian language speakers in Mariupol in just six weeks of carpet bombing in 2022 as protecting Russian culture.
One can’t participate in campaigns against “Wokeism” or “Trans Rights” (or whatever the latest Cultural War front paleo-conservative oligarchic elites are manipulating us into caring about), without contributing to the destruction of everything those who died in WWII sacrificed themselves for.
