It's an amazing set of reforms. I visited hundreds of village leaders many in now occupied Zaporozhzhia.
Today, again Ruschists struck a community - Orikhiv - where amazing committed local leaders had transformed governance. A 40 yo man died after Ruschia's Islander strike.
Most high level policy makers still have zero idea of the reforms Ukraine has already enacted.
When, as a diplomat, I met the elected head of Orikhiv, we spoke of the community's investment in a new school gym. Under Ukraine's decentralization process 2014-2021 communities like Orikhiv got to keep 50% of locally raised taxes. This is their gym now:

I spent 4 years visiting villages (former Soviets) assessing the results.
On Apr 1st 2014 Ukraine launched decentralisation of power from Kyiv to smallest villages... Villages would retain 50% of taxes & would get autonomy over budgetary priorities in culture, schools, health, security, water, admin services... Huge success.
Post-colonial Ireland still has same local governance structure 100 years after independence🙄. Ukraine doesn't. 🇺🇦 DESTROYED District-level power structures. Didn't reform corrupt Soviet-era: eliminated them. Ruschia's occupying Villages which have had autonomy for years.
I first noticed the positive results of decentralisation in early 2018. By accident. I asked an eastern Ukrainian Soviet-era village leader why he was such a champion now for decentralisation: "We're going to live like villages in Poland. Applied to become a hromada."
Until 1868 there was NO local governance in Ukraine - everyone was a serf. Then Soviet "democracy." By Dec 2019 EVERY non-Ruschian occupied village in Ukraine kept 50% of taxes raised on their communities. Ukrainians will NEVER surrender this freedom. NEVER.

⚡️Russia's 'Far Right' Problem.
Russia conceals its paleo-male white supremacist far right terrorist dictatorship by promoting a cartoonish 'Far Right' image for Ukraine.
For eight years this Ruschist psy-ops Disinfolklore campaign deterred military support for Ukraine.
Anyone who still promotes this troll is not worth your time. Their analytical powers are in the sink.
Russia ran Ukraine's far right Svoboda political party as a Russian Disinfolklore asset for years.
Trump's enprisoned campaign manager while he worked for Russia's president of Ukraine Yanukovich Paul Manafort even used Svoboda to deter support for Ukraine's unjustly jailed ex-prime minister Yulia Timoshenko (see Disinfolklore episode 10).
Ruschia's Far Right Disinfolklore operation was a well it drew on to weaken Ukraine's image and support for Ukraine. Russia invests in establishing the Disinfolklore character "Ukraine as a far-right state."
Then hapless brainwashed victims of this troll promote it every time they write or publish an earnest article of Ukraine's alleged far-right problem that only ever existed as a character in Ruschist Disinfolklore.
Russia's leader-in-waiting Putin's Chef of Disinfolklore the Wanger Nazi chef had command responsibility for the murder of 100,000 Ukrainians since 24th February 2022.
That's pretty far right.
Bakhmut and Popasna were vaporised by his Nazi-worshipping "Wanger" employees.

"Wanger" lost 75,000 of its own Nazi-worshipping criminal genocidors trying to capture just 0.0069% of Ukraine's territory.

Russia's use of its Far Right troll has lost its Mana, except when, by entertaining it, we entertain others through agonising investigations of an entirely mythical problem - in Ukraine.
If the resources invested into investigating Ruschia's mythical "Ukrainian far right" troll had been invested into promoting the truth of Ruschia's far right problem over the past eight years, then today Ukraine would have F-35s and ATACMs, like Saudi Arabia has.
There would be NO genocide in Ukraine, if hapless policy wonks, leaders, and journalists hadn't fallen for Ruschia's troll.
Putin's Chef Saucerer - the Wanger Nazi Chef - now represents the Russian mainstream.
Mainstream in Russia now validates genocide against Ukrainians, and vaporising whole cities.
The Chef is never off western front-pages these days.
Yet, the Chef boasts about his complicity in the worst crimes in Europe of the 21st Century.
As Russia's leader in waiting he and his activities have been normalised, even in the West.
"Far Right" then as a cuss has lost its meaning. It's the Ruschist mainstream we gotta worry about now.
Thankfully Ukraine is here to fight Ruschism, while the West slumbers. Yet, we're free-riding on Ukraine's strength. And that's not sustainable.
I worked with mothers of missing Ukrainian soldiers 2018-2022.
Their sons went missing after the September 2014 Battle of Illovaisc.
Russia had massacred many Ukrainian soldiers who had surrendered.
So maybe their sons were dead.
Now, we see these reports of a system Russian Nazi concentration camps for Ukrainians.
Between 2015 and 2021 there were persistent rumours that at least some of the missing soldiers had been seen after they were supposed to have been killed.
It seemed scarcely believable that Russia would disappear people, as had been done in the gulags.
Mothers / parents still holding out hope.
Lack of fighter jets, anmo and long range artillery while every day Ruschia is forcibly transferring Ukrainians into concentration camps is close to unforgivable POTUS OlafScholz.
⚡️Wagner, Wanger, and Ruschist Nazi Branding.
1. German composer Wagner surfaces German mythology into public consciousness. This coincides with Germany becoming a state for the first time around 1870. German identity in the 19th c consolidates around this imagined past.
2. 1930s: Nazis riff off Germanic mythology (preserved by the Norse and by Roman Tacitus). Nazis use Wagner's music as a populist legitimation strategy. Everywhere the music is heard, Nazism is communicated.
3. 2014: Russian Nazi who admires German Nazis uses callsign "Wanger." Then his Russian army unit takes on that name. Worships Germanic God of the Magico-Religious aspect of Sovereignty Odin (for whom our Wednesday is named - Whodanaz, the God of Trolling, War Magic and Disinfolklore.com).
4. Wanger brand promoted inside Russia to promote Nazism, while disguising Russian Nazism. Russian Nazi state accuses Ukraine of being Nazi - undisciplined, uncritical, and lazy journalists, policy makers, lawmakers fall for this troll. Meanwhile, hiding in plain sight actual Russian white supremacist Nazis prepare to murder millions of Ukrainians.
5. Wanger becomes a mainstream brand accross the world, even while Wanger Nazis vaporise whole Ukrainian cities.
