Voltaire On Ukraine, And Other Pensées.
As a writer, I’m trying to tune into what’s on my readers’ minds at any particular moment.
Then: as a service provider, I try to entertain, console, interpret, defend, attack, and provide insight on the conventional wisdom that is immanent in the day’s themes.
In days of yore, what was important was decided by editors in the Old Media. If you still listen to radio news, then you see their editors are setting the parameters of what is deemed important.
It’s much more fluid now with vast amounts of data about, say, events in Ukraine flowing through different media (Telegram, Twitter, Mastodon). And ebbs and flows of what’s on people’s minds occur as the day evolves.
I insert my content into this Amazon-wide stream of data.
One metric I can use for how good or bad a day I have as a creative service provider is: “How many people saw my content today"?!”
On Monday 29th May 2023 half-a-million readers tuned into my work.
That’s a good day.
On my best days it’s a million people. Or, like last Sunday, 900,000.
I compare the freedom we have today as content creators with, say, Old Media Opinion columnists. They negotiate the subject matter of one column a week or maybe a daily column with an editor. It’s a comparatively long process.
Sometimes it takes me less than two minutes to react to a stimulus and to write a piece which over the course of twenty-four hours, one-hundred-thousand people will see.
In today’s online world, we’re not relying on an editor to determine what’s of interest to people. Or, worse, allowing an elite in Old Media to set the entire parameters of the debate.
Today, say, what is important in Ukraine and a war with a front of 1,000km and millions of individual events gets filtered upwards through a vast network of like- and unlike-minded information brokers, including me.
You just get a sense of the things troubling or interesting people at any particular moment from this massive stream of data.
And, for me anyway, if there’s some piece in response that I can create and throw out into the network, I love the freedom of doing so.
Russia’s state-paid troll farms (mostly run by the Nazi Wanger chef guy’s conglomerate) are so staid and unreactive, now, compared to the hundreds of thousands of free westerners working every day to counter their disinfolklore. On Saturday evening they started a massive campaign focussing on how Kyiv teenagers were enjoying visiting McDonald’s. Many of us had something to say in response to this - to throw them off.
I was once in a village in now occupied southern Ukraine and I happened to notice some paintings in the village’s palace of culture. The elected head of the village answered my question about them.
“We asked our children to put into pictures their dreams for our community.”
One of the children had drawn a McDonald’s. For that child their biggest dream was that a McDonald’s might one day be opened in their tiny village.
Instead they got genocide and forcible transfer into the Russian Federation.
And what motivates my art is the feeling that I can help counter the Russian Disinfolklore.
Disinfolklore or War Magic is working to blind many to the suffering and injustice that barbaric Ruschism has introduced into what were and will be again idyllic communities in the centre of Europe, but which today are hell on earth.

Let's decode Putin's Chef's Internet trolls focus on Kyiv McDonald’s on Sunday.
On Sunday a Ukrainian academic’s film of McDonald’s in Kyiv showing well-dressed children and teenagers having fun became the focus of a Russian Disinformation campaign - it had sixteen million views as the “Wanger” chef’s Disinfolklore operation tried to provoke disgust in the United States - “Look! Your tax dollars are being spent on Ukraine’s defence while its kids have fun” was the line Russian Disinfolklorists tried to push.
They've sacrificed ALL their McDonald’s on the altar of genociding Ukrainians.
McDonald’s was once, for Muscovy, a sign of the future.
They're facing total failure on all fronts.
They can't face the fact: Ukraine has a European future. While, Muscovy's sunk.
Forever.
Now, on the fifth day of the Bryansk and Bilhorod People's revolutions, they're trolling about McDonald’s. And that's why Russia is a failure.
They should be focussing on how to protect their families from Wanger civil war chaos, not trying to deter us from helping Ukraine to exercise its UN Charter guaranteed right to self defence by trolling about McDonald’s.
⚡️Russia's Grievance-Mining: How does it work?
Too often we hop on the Provocation Logic Cycle, just after the Ruschist has moaned.
Instead, we need to go back to the beginning of the Provocation Logic Cycle.
Example: "West doesn't appreciate sacrifices we've made. We won WWII for the West."
Response: "Poor Ruschia."
Truth: Ruschia invaded Poland in 1939. US materiel won the war.
Ruschia reneged on its LendLease Debt.
Nothing justifies genocide against Ukrainians.
Moral of the story: Whenever you hear this whinging grievance-mining from Ruschia, Putin, MAGA, Trump,... be On Guard.
Someone is trying to hack your rational thought processes by stoking your human empathy.
⚡️Zaluzhniy to Kyiv Mayor: Read "War and Peace" already!
Kyiv mayor @Vitaliy_Klychko criticises General Zaluzhniy for NOT raining terror down on Moscow.
Field Marshall Kutusov while fighting Napoleon also was criticised for not taking the fight to the enemy. Armchair generals from the Czar down begged Kutusov to attack Napoleon's forces. "Wait, Just wait," was Kutuzov's response.
Result?
Napoleon limped out of Muscovy, like Russia will limp out of Ukraine in 2023.

⚡️Day Seven: Russia's Civil War.
Russia watchers claim this invasion by Russia of itself proves Russia's strength. No other country in world history has continued to genocide its neighbour, while itself experiencing civil war.
Roger Waters, Chomsky, Pope, Kissinger, and Musk In Joint Belgorod Plea:
"We jointly call on President Putin to renounce claims to 'Belgorod People's Republic'.
"For the sake of world peace."
China's generals have now been given an additional ambitious target: Xi has ordered CCP generals to prepare to invade Russia, By. Next. Monday.
Recall that 300 million Chinese citizens live adjacent to very sparsely populated parts of Russia where minimal resistance is expected.

WHO records 982 Russian attacks on Ukrainian health care facilities.
WHO head boasts about meeting Russian genocide minister to speak about "maternal health and child health."
UN Commission and International Criminal Court have issued War Crime proceedings against Russia for forcibly transferring 16,000 named Ukrainian children into Russia.
Council of Europe and NATO Parliamentary Assembly has called Russia's war of aggression "Genocide," specifically because of its forcible transfer of Ukrainian children.

One winter morning in 2016, in a small village up a miles long sand road in now occupied Luhansk, I witnessed this scene:
A women entering the village shop - Silpo - only to be told bread delivery wouldn't be happening: the snow that morning was too deep (I travelled around in armoured SUV).
"How will Mariia survive? Her black bread. She has none."
Despair.
Baking bread daily reminder that Ukraine's pre-Indo-European Tripoly e culture's excavated temples and houses all venerate bread-making.
Communicants participated in the baking of the sacred grain as an offering to the vegetation goddess from whose generosity all community emanates.
Working as a diplomat for 3 years at Stanitsia Luhanska, I monitored the freedom of movement from occupied Ukraine by the Soviet-era Lady of the Bread statue.
